この三つの映像作品は、ブリュッセルで私に話しかけてきたモロッコ人の青年との関わりを契機とする。ハイブランドの服(HUGO BOSSなど)を着込むことや、他人に対して自分を強く見せることは、彼にとって非常に重要なことなのだと感じた。彼が能動的に纏おうとする男らしさや態度に反して、不意に、彼の内面の不安やナイーブな感情が現れることがあった。タイトルの”T’es content d'avoir passé une journée avec moi ?”(君は 僕と一緒に一日を過ごしてよかったですか)は、ある日、彼が去り際に私に言った言葉で、私が楽しんでいるかを過度に気にしていることが表れていた。男らしさを維持するために消費される何かを、痛んでいく果物のイメージに重ねた。
These three video works are initiated from my engagement with a young Moroccan man who approached me in Brussels. I sensed that for him, wearing high-end brands like HUGO BOSS and portraying a strong image to others was of utmost importance. Contrary to the masculinity and attitude he actively sought to embody, there were instances when his inner insecurities and naivety emotions would unexpectedly surface. The title, "T'es content d'avoir passé une journée avec moi?" ("Are you happy to have spent a day with me?"), stems from something he said to me while leaving, revealing his excessive concern about my enjoyment during our time together. I superimposed the image of fruit deteriorating over time onto the notion of something being consumed to maintain masculinity.

彼は北野武のヤクザ映画に憧れていて、日本人である私に興味をもち話しかけてきた。特に北野武の『BROTHER』(2000年)を気に入っていると何度も話してくれた。
調査と聞き取りの中で知ったのは、モロッコでは男の子は十代で独り立ちしていないと少し恥ずかしいという認識が今もあるようだ。これは明文化されている訳でもなければ、全ての人が該当するわけでもない。しかし、この認識は緩やかに社会規範として機能していることは、傍から見ても理解できた。彼は、モロッコ人のアイデンティティと、ヨーロッパ市民であるとの間で揺らいでいるように感じられた。
メディアに溢れる男性的なイメージの間を行き交い続ける彼の肖像として。
He was enamored with KITANO Takeshi's yakuza films and approached me out of interest in my Japanese background. He repeatedly expressed his fondness for Kitano's "BROTHER" (2000) in particular.
From my research and interviews, I came to understand that in Morocco, there seems to still be a perception that it is somewhat embarrassing if a young man is not independent by his teenage years.This perception is not explicitly stated or applicable to everyone. However, I could understand that this perception functions subtly as a social norm, even from an outsider's perspective. I felt he was wavering between his Moroccan identity and being a citizen of Europe.
This is a portrait of him, perpetually oscillating amidst the inundation of masculine images in the media.

ある日、午前の生鮮市場が終わった広場を通りがかったときに、破棄され、床に転がる傷んだ果物が目についた。そして、これらの果物が様々な地域から、はるばるこの土地に運ばれてきたことを想像した。
果物は、長い時間を経て本来生息していた地域から移動し、繁栄してきた。その歴史は、人類の移動と拡散の歴史と重なる部分を持つ。その過程で人間の性質のメタファーとしての象徴性を付与されてきた。それは、様々な文化や時間を経て変化し、今日の日本においては本来の生息地を忘れられるほど日常的な存在になっている。その一方で、私たちが手に取るひとつひとつの果物は、生産された土地の水分と養分から生み出された身体をもち、土地と密接に関係し続けている。

One day, as I passed by a square where the morning fresh market had just ended, my eyes were drawn to damaged fruits discarded and rolling on the ground. I imagined how these fruits had been transported all the way to this land from various regions.
Fruits, over a long period of time, have migrated and flourished from their original habitats. Their history has overlapping aspects with the history of human movement and dispersion. In the process, they have been assigned symbolic value as metaphors for human nature. These symbols have evolved through various cultures and times, and in today's Japan, fruits have become such an everyday presence that we have forgotten their original habitats. On the other hand, each piece of fruit we pick up possesses a body created from the moisture and nutrients of the land where it was produced, maintaining a close connection with that land.
